Tho vacancy caused in the dairygrading department at Wellington by the promotion of Mr D. Cuddie to the position of Acting-Chief Dairy Coinmissioner will be filled by Mr D. Dickie, grader at Dunedin and Bluff, Mr A. A. Thornton, grader at Lyttelton, will temporarily work Dunedin and Bluff in addition to his present post. Mr Cuddie leaves next week on a visit- of inspection of the Taranaki district. Mr W. M. Singleton, cheese-making instructor. who lias been on an extended visit to Southland, returns to-day, and leaves again for Taranaki on a course of instruction to producers in that province. Mrs John Sandes (wife of a well-known Australian pressman), who recently appeared in Wellington with the “Are You a Mason” Company, was a daughter of the late Sir Graham Berry, who died at Melbourne last week. _ Another younger daughter, Miss Edith Berry, was on the stage for a time as a member of the Nance O’Neil Company which toured New Zealand a few years agQi;.J ; . 4 .
