FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB
FURTHER RACECOURSE IMPROVEMENTS.
Feilding is daily showing signs of advancement, and few of its institutions are more flourishing than its Jockey Club, which, under the able management of its officers and secretary (Mr E. Goodbehere), is rapidly taking a good place among those of the colony. A few years ago a large grandstand was erected, and last week the contract for erecting the stewards’ building (a view of which we give on this page), was let to Mr Wm. Wilkinson, of Feilding. On the ground floor will be the jockeys’ room (31ft x 13fti weighing room (13ft x 13ft), secretary’s room (13ft x 12ft), and two smaller offices; while upstairs will be the Press room (21ft x 13ft), stewards’ room (31ft x 13ft), handicappers’ room (13ft x 10ft), with the usual lavatory accommodation. . One important feature in the design is the large balcom- and verandah space, which will enable the stewards and other favoured ones to view the races in comfort. The architect (Mr F. de J. Cl ere, F.R.1.8.A.) has also introduced several new arrangements for the convenient working of business, in connection with race meetings, which promise to be of great convenience to all concerned. The building is to be ready for occupation before the Easter meeting.
