PAHIATUA
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
On* the 18tli inst. a large mocking oi- Pahiatua and Ridge roads settlers was held at Mr Baucke’s residence,, foo* the purpose of considering steps towards obtaining a school for the district. The •meeting, at (which Mr Marriott}, of Balance, presided, was unanimous in the opinion that the time has now arrived when it is absolutely necessary that instrucion be provided for the fast increasing young population in the district. A resolution, moved by Mr McAdam, that a committee, composed of Messrs Marriott, Field, Goodwin,, Macdonald and Smith, with Mr -Goodwin as Chairman and Mr Field as Secretary, be formed, with instructions to conifer with the Board of Education on the matter, was seconded by Mr Bauohe and carried unanimously.
