A London cablegram announces the death of the Duke of Richmond. As a public man the deceased was {unknown to the present generation. Born in 1818, he entered the army in 1839 and was for sene years A.D.C. to the Duke of Wellington and afterwards to \ iscount Hardinge. From 1841 to 1860 the deceased sat in the House of Commons in the Conservative interest as member for West Sussex, -ajid afterheld various offices of Stake up to 1886, when he was Secretary for Scotland. H# owned nearly 300,000 aciea of land?.
