The March number of the “Geological Magazine ” contains an interesting article by Professor W. B. Benbam (Otago University) describing the gigantic eirripede, or barnacle, which was discovered ma<ny years ago on the Motutapu Island, in Auckland harbour. Specimens were fully described by Sir James Hector in. 1887, but anatomical details have now been added by Professor Benham from specimens winch he * has recently ’ received. These are the stalked barnacles which have only been found in the fossil state up to a length of one inch and a half. Those under notice were at least eight inches in length.
