Spec jax to the cc Times.” WANGANUI, April 27. The public will regret to hear of the death of Dr Connolly, which occurred on tlie steamer Eimutaka on the 16th inst. The intelligence was cabled to the colony by the captain of the vessel when she called aJ Tenerifi’e on the voyage Home. Dr Connolly had been in indifferent health for a considerable time, due to a breakdown of tlie system caused by overwork. He gave up practice last September. He then spent some months at Rotorua, and it was generallj* understood that his health had much improved. He took a keen interest in local affairs. As a sportsman Dr Connolly was wellknown throughout the colony, being not only a horse owner, but a steward and member of the committee of the Wanganui Jockev Club. On several occasions he acted as delegate of the Wanganui Jockey Club at the Racing Conference held in Wellington. He was an enthusiastic huntsman in V anganui twenty years ago, and regularly followed the hounds, winning several races at the Wanganui and Rangitilrei Hunt Club’s meetings on his old favourite Dhudeen, Ngata, Chevalier, The Demon and other horses carried Mr "J.
