SYDNEY, April 27. The Mutual Lite Association of Australasia (known as tho “M.L.A.”) lias exceeded the record of last year. The new business —the largest in its history —amounted to £7GO,OUG, an advance of almost. £oU,OTK). The new _ premiums thereon amounted to £30,352. an increase of £SOOO. Renewal premiums total £171,829, or £12,712 more than in 1901. Funds have increased by over hJIOO,OOO, and the interest rate, has been well maintained. Tho expenses show a gratifying decrease. Altogether the report of the year’s business is one that the policy-holders may regard with satisfaction. At the annual meeting of the Mutual Life Association of Australasia, tlie report showed that th-e expenses ratio had been reduced 26s per cent. The general manager declared that tlia association’s success showed that the condition cf Australasia was not so gloomy as some English critics would endeavour to make tho public believe.
