The Rev. James Paterson, for many years minister of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, is said to have expressed a desire to bo relieved of his duties. It is also stated that the charge may be offered to the Rev. Dr Gibb, of First Church, Dunedin. Nothing definite on tho subject, however, will be known until the question is dealt with at a. meeting of the congregation. The committee appointed to consider Mr Paterson’s suggestion that a colleague bo appointed who woxild eventually become his successor has had several meetings, and will, in due course, place certain proposals before the congregation. It was erroneously stated that Mr D. J. Nathan had left on a brief visit to Sydney.
