Mr A. H. Cooper stated at last week’s meeting of the Trades Council that the delegates who attended the recent conference at Greymouth .had; visited the State coalmines at Point Elizabeth. The preparations for opening the mine were represented be well advanced, one drive having already reached coal. A 13ft seam was m sight, he said, and the coalappeared to he of excellent quality. This statement was emphasised by the product: iaa of a fine bright sample of the coal.
