The'Government House party is likely to remain in the north until the second week in June, when his Excellency will return to Wellington in order to open Parliament. The occasion will be the last time he will so officiate in New Zealand, as his term of office will expire befo? o the meeting of Parliament in 1904. Lady Ttanfurly intends to leave Wellington permanently for England in October next, but Lord Hanfurly will remain in the colony some months after that date. It is likely that he will undertake a coaching tour of the colony on similar lines to the one which his Excellency and a party undertook a few years ago Alessrs Christenson, E. Hendrickson and D. Drummond, three Wellington carpenters who recently went to South Africa* are now living at Gwelo, a town some considerable distance to the north oi Buluwayo: They latterly found trade very dull at Johannesburg. At Gwelo, when the mail left, Mr Christenson was working as a journeyman at a weekly wage of £9 per week-
