With a view to trying a change in blood among the quail in the Wellington district, the Acclimatisation Society has arranged to get a supply of quail from the Nelson Society in exchange for two young stags recently sent over to Nelson. Our Wanganui correspondent records the death of Mrs Ernest Peake, wfe of Mr E. Peake, of Brunswick, and fourth daughter of the late Major Lockett. Tiro deceased was taken ill suddenly on Wednesday, an operation was performed on Friday, which unfortunately terminated fatally on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Peake and family were about to remove to Cambridge, in the Auckland province, and Mr Peake was absent in the north when the news of his wife’s illness reached him.
