Monday was an “off” morning at . the Hutt, and consequently nothing of a sensational character was dono on the tracks. The times registered by those horses which were doing their best in dicato that the tracks are very fast. Of the fresh arrivals who made their first appearance, the Auckland sprinter, Ho - horo, attracted most attention. His presence at the meeting will give additional interest to the contest for the Telegraph Handicap. Thg Tasman gelding was not required to do much, being restricted to half-pacing Avcrk. Mr J. B. Reid’s pair of fillies, Gladsome and Lo lah, which arrived the previous day, went Avell in a sprint over four furlongs on the course proper in 54sec. R. Gooseman’s pair, Eland and Shackle, who came through from Napier on Sat urday night, did a couple of rounds, but were not extended. After cantering onco round, Siege Gun Avas joined by Cruciform, and Hey ran once round at their best pace. The last eight furlongs took lmin 45sec. Siege Gun moved freer than on previous mornings, an 1 created a most favourable impression.

King Log, Petrovna and Ayrdale spurted half a mile together, the first-named finishing in front in olsec. Westguard took a second longer to cover the same distance. Canteen Avas responsible for a tan ten furlongs in 2min 17sec, and was not all out. With a flying start Pallas left five furlongs behind in Imm 4sec. Motor hit out over six furlongs in lmin 18sec, finishing strongly. Several others Avorkcd ivere not sent against tlio AA atch. Iniwa, Wind and Field Battery sprinted a feAV furlongs. Wa-ika-lcalio Avent about seven furlongs at about three-parts pace. Red Gauntlet gajloped a circuit on the tan, and Avanted to improve the pace. Hinetaura shaped well in a gallop onco round, assisted by Gold Seal. Dundas, Queen’s Guard, Somerled, Windwhistle, Cannie Chiel, Treadmill and others did useful pacing. AUCKLAND, January 19. The Sii'immer, Avhile being Schooled at Ellerslio this morning, came doivn, breaking his neck. Our Eketahuna correspondent telegraphs that ivith the exception of Vaunt, in the Flying Handicap, all the horses Aveighted by Mr Ulic Shannon for handicap events at the Eketahuna hack race meeting have accepted.
