Th.o manager of the Wellington gas*, works, avlio recently returned from ,a trip to Sydney, reports that there is a temporary glut in the Sydney coke supply as a result of the installation of electric trams. Formerly the steam, trams were hauled by engines Avhich generated steam by coke. Three or four years ago in Sydney there was so great a demand for coke that the management of the Sydney gasAA 7 orks had frequently to make a pro rata allotment, but now there is a reserve On hand hundreds of feet long andTifty feet or s® in height. The matter, however, is simply one of temporary disarrangement, foe! there are numerous ways in which coke may and will be profitably utilised in Sydney once the public becomes generally aivare that the reason for the oldtime scarcity has for all time disappeared.
