Mr D. McKenzie, of Wellington, is one of tlie judges ox tne walking event at the Wanganui championship meeting at Wanganui this week. Tile Oainaru Caledonian Society cleared £MO over the ISt*w Year meeting. 'lhe society gave <£4l6 in prize money, and the financial result is very satisxactory to Mr it. L. Rule, secretary. I have to thank Mr E. J. Cameron, secretary of the Mataura Athletic Society, for particulars of a meeting held on Boxing Day. At Avoca, on Boxing Day. W. McManus won the 130 Yards Sheffield and 220 Yards Handicaps. At Maryborough, on New Year's Day, he Avon his heat of the Sheffield, but failed to get into the final. He was successful in the 220 Yards Handicap. At Castlemaine the following day he managed to get second in the hurdles. Mr R. L. Rule, secretary of the Oamaru Caledonian Society. passed through Wellington yesterday on the Avay to tic championship meeting to be held at Wanganui this Aveek. .
