RACING IN NEW ZEALAND.

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. The following members of the Wellington Racing Club have been nominated as office-bearers for the ensuing season:—President, Mr John Duncan: vice-presidents, Messrs J. B. Harcourt and G. H. Scales; stewards, Messrs Jas. Ames, J. W. Abbott, P. E. Baldwin \V. A. Mowbray, R. T. Turnbull, j! Wilkins, T. M. Wilford, H. D. Nelson and D. J. Nathan. The number of stewards to be elected is eight. Nine nominations have been received. Messrs G. P. Skerrett and W. H. S. Moorhouse did not seek re-eleotion. The new candidates for office are iviessrs Nelson Nathan and Wilford. The election takes place at the annual meeting of members of the club to be held on Monday, September Bth, when the following notices of motion will coriie up for consideration:—

•L> ir P. E. Baldwin— That rule 17 be amended by .striking out the word September and inserting the word “August.,;” and-rule 9, by substituting the word “September” for “October.” . By Mr J. Falconer—That a paid judge be appointed; that bookmakers be licensed by the club. By Mr F. Turnbull—That rule 6 be amended by striking out the words ‘three guineas” with the. view of inserting the words “one guinea.” By Mr T. Kennedy Macdonald— That when issuing tickets to members, the seci etary shall forward three admission pass tickets t-o the members’ luncheonroom, and that no person be admitted to such luncheon-room without production of such ticket; that it be a direction to the stewards to at once appoint a judge, who shall he paid for his services, and that rule 32 be amended by striking out the words “a judge”: that in all club functions, such as luncheons to members of conferences and others, the stewards shall fix a special, charge for such functions, and any member-on paying such charge shall have the right to atcend-the function; that no person shall.be. admitted to the top gallery of the stewards’ stand without producing the ticket of membership; that the ste” wards’ stand shall be covered in durum the forthcoming year. Moorhou.se— That a committee of members be appointed to revise the rules of the club with a view to removal of inconsistencies, and to alter the rules so as to provide for the election of office-bearers after the o-ene-ral meeting of the club.
