ST. JOHN’S WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

In anticipation of a keen struggle between Diamonds and St, John’s, a large numbers of spectators journeyed to Miramar, and were treated to the most brilliant exposition of *‘“soccer” which *

has been witnessed this season. Both teams were in fine form, and forced the pace from the commencement of play. For a considerable portion of the game it was difficult to say which team would leave the field victorious. During the last twenty minutes tne St. John’s vanguard played with rare combination, and broke up the defence of the opposing backs, and eventually won the game by three goals to nil. The result- of the match entitles St. John’s to the senior championship for 1902. Rovers beat Marist Brothers, after a fast game, by G goals to 1. Marist Brothers only played with seven men, and were without the services of the redoubtable Fitzgerald. The game at Petone between the local team and Queen’s Park resulted- in a will for Petone by 2 goals to 1. CHAMPIONSHIP SCORES. The following is the position of the teams in the Senior Championship— Goals.
