(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) Friday, 3.50 p.m. A farewell “social” was given .to MS S. G. Stanton, the local postmaster, and family last evening. There was a very large gathering. Mr Stanton was presented on behalf of the Presbyterian congregation with a handsome set of carvers. The new postmaster, Mr "to erts, of Mercer, is expected to arrive early next week. . . *.,-'.* A young Maori lad, Rawhxti Mamhera, was committed to the industnai school by Mr W. P. James, S.M., W stealing a saddle and martingale. . Mr Geo. Wyett, manager of fine \va> rarapa Permanent Investment Loan AS’ sociation, is seriously ill.
