The Dunedin Retailers and Traders’ Association has been established for some six years, and has done good in the interests of the shopkeeper and general trader by its oversight of all matters affecting trade and its successful approaches to Government in connection with labour legislation and kindred matters. After very careful and lengthy consideration, the members of this association have decided to merge the association into the larger and more representative body known as the Otago Employers’ Association. A special notion of the latter association, called the retailers’ section, lias been set up to deal with all matters affecting the shopkeeper and small trader that are not dealt with by the general executive. This section will be managed by a special subcommittee of nine, four of these being appointed by the executive from their own number, and the remaining five at a general meeting of the retailers’ section.
