Tho story goes that, during the courso of a picnic honoured by the pres, once of the Prince of Wales, the butler for tli© nonce consisted of a small hoy’who was not so quick as lie might liavo been in helping tho guests to champagne. Half way through the, meal, tho Prince noticed that liis vis.avis, a pretty American girl, did ..not seem to bo getting. 011 very well with, her lunch.
“Can I pass*you anything?” inquired his Royal Highness. “Oh. no, sir!” replied this very modern Daisy Miller; then, demurely, “I am only waiting for the hoy.” The Princo laughed heartily, and, adopting the euphemism for his own, added a new expression to the language of the table.—“The Sketch-”
