The Marton Jockey Club, at a meeting last night, definitely decided to accept an offer of 96 acres of land at £l6 per acre, abutting on the main railway fine opposite Marton station, for a new racecourse. Tenders will be called immediately for the necessary formation. It is anticipated that the appointments, track, etc., will be ready for the next race meeting in September. The club has a credit balance of £909, and proposes to borrow £2OOO in order to have a thoroughly up-to-date course and appointments. The track will be a mile in circumference, with 12-chain straights, and 28-chain turns- An excellent steeplechase course can be secured on the property. RACING IN AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE RAGING NOTES.
