-■ We were last week shown by the inventor, Mr J. N; Clapham, of Ashhurst, an improved patent horse-holder a.nd wheel-stopper. The device /is a simple one. It consists of a single strap or chain with two rings and a hook. By its being attached to the wheel of a cart, spring dray or other vehicle, the .inventor claims . that it is utterly - impossible for the wildest horse to move away 1 . It is by putting the, : reins through one of the rings of the invention that the refractory animal is so securely held. Among horse owndrs the “Clapham. hors ©holder” is likely to be in demand as soon as its merits are sufficiently well known. It might he mentioned that Messrs E.: W. Mills and 00. are the local agents for this invention. Mr Murray-Aynsley, of Christchurch, chairman of the New Zealand Shipping Company, was a passenger - from Lyti telton by the Rotomahana on ;the 20th.'
