The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows on their Palmerston North sale on the 21st instant: —We had a large yarding of both cattle and sheep, stock coming forward greatly in excess of advertised numbers. There was a good attendance, but bidding was very slack, and prices for all classes of stock were easier. Although several lines were passed in under the hammer, we were successful in placing the bulk afterwards. The dairy cows sold on account of Mr T. H. Morine averaged £5 12s 6d. In the absence of Mr Carr, Mr Ormond Cooper kindly sold for the company. We quote: —Sheep—Fullmouthed ewes, 12s and 11s 6d; cull ewes, 6s 9d and 7s lid ; forward wethers, 14s 7d; store wethers, 11s 6d and 13s; shorn lambs, 7s 9d; wetlier lambs, 8s; fat and forward lambs, 10s 6d ; cull lambs, os 6d. Cattle Three-year steers, £5 ss, £5 Is; eighteen-months steers, £3 3s 6d; fat cows, £4 13s 6d; store cows, £3 10s; -weaners, 2os, 355; dairy cows, £3 10s to £7.

Messrs Murray Roberts and Co. report: —We offered 2560 sheepskins and a large quantity of oddments of wool on Friday. There was no material change in values from, last sale. Well-saver! skins met with a good demand, but im ferior and damaged descrij-tions were difficult of sale. We quote : —Merinos and halfbred, 4d to 4|d per lb; crossbreds, 3-|d to ; hoggets and dead, 2d to 2fd; lambskins, 2jd to 3£d; dry pelts (sound), 6d to 8d each; dry pelts (mixed), Id to 4d. Bag wool —Fleece and lambs, 3d to 4d per lb; locks and pieces, Id to 2*d.

Messrs Levin and Co., Limited., reUnrt that at their usual fortnightly saie on Friday they offered 75 bales of wool, and about 1500 sheepskins. The wool consisted chiefly of scouring lines of fine wool, and prices realised were quite on a par with those recently in vogue. We quote as follows: —Wool —Clean cross--bred, 4jd to 5a per lb; coarse crossbred, 3*-d to 4Jd; log-stained, 2d to 3d; lambs wool, 3|d to 4fd ; locks, Id to 2d; crutchings and pieces, 2d to 2jd; fine pieces, 2fd to Sheepskins —Fullwool crossbred, 3£d to 4d per lb ; halfwool crossbred, 2fd to 3£d; dead skins 2d to 2jd; merinos, 3|d to 4-£d; pelts, Id to 9d ea,ch.
