Elderly playgoers will not forget, her forcible performance in the drama, “ The Orange- Girl,” at the Surrey, under Shepherd and Creswick, nor her pathetic impersonation of Jeannie Deans (" The Heart of Midlothian”) at various metropolitan and provincial theatres. As a manageress she did excellent work at Sadler’s Wells and the:. Standard. Miss Marriott had a beautiful contralto voice, rich, full and so perfectly under command as to be capable of the minutest shades of expression.
