CITY VALUATIONS.
A YEAR OF PROGRESS. INCREASE OF .£21,839. The City Valuer, Mr James Ames, lias completed the compilation of the valuation roll of the city, on which rates will be struck for the current year. Last year the values showed an increase of .£20,389, and this year the total valuation is put down at <£458,828, or a further increase of <£21,839. The ratable value of each ward for 190*1-1902, compared with the three preceding 3 T ears, is as follows:—1901-1902 Thorndon <£62,495; Lambton, <£183,488; # Te Aro, <£119,939; Cook, <£92.906. Total, .£458,828
