Nurse Black, of the hospital senior nursing staff has resigned, and Nurse Cox has been recommended to take her place. Probationer Johnstone has been promoted to the junior nursing staff. It is stated by a member of the Highland' Light- Infantry, now in Wellington, that after the contingent returns Home the regiment is to be clad in the kilp and to have its title altered to “ Glasgow’s Own Highlanders.’'’ An officer of the Seaforth Highlanders has, it is reported, promised to send cut to Mr Atkins, the venerable ex-sergeant of the regiment who joined in the procession of Saturday last, a complete suit of the new regimentals. A gentleman who has witnessed the public demonstrations on the arrival of the_ Imperial troops during the whole of their New Zealand tour so far, states that in point of numbers and warmth of welcome the Wellington turn-out surpassed that of any other centre. The total number of patients in the Wellington Hospital in January was 293. Death occurred in nine cases, one only being from fever (typhoid). There were 208 new cases admitted into the outpatients’ department during the month, and 797 visits paid.
