The Department of Agriculture has received the following cable message from the Agent-General, dated February 9ih :—“Average price choicest outter, 108 s; there is a good demand, chiefly for Scotland and North England. There is no alteration in the cheese market since last week. Hemp market is very Arm. Good fair Wellington, £22 10s; fair current Manila, £3O 10s. Auction sales last week closed with a good demand. Reports from Manila inicate signs of improvement in the hemp market. Cocksfoot unsatisfactory, 335. Mr W. J. Napier, M.H.R. for Auckland, who is now on a visit to Wellington, stated on 12th, in the course of conversation with a member of the “Times” istaff, that the remarks and anticipations we published as to the probable appointment to the vacant Judgeship do not at all reflect Auckland sentiment.
