About 400 officers and men of the Jewish religion serving in the Regular or Auxiliary Forces attended a, special military ser vice at the Great Synagogue, Aldgate. Lord Mount Stephen is about to send a cheque’ for <£25,000 to wipe off the debt on Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, of which institution he was a patient in 1846. In a- Westminster County Court case it was stated that a debtor had to- pawn liis teeth to meet a claim. The London Missionary Society is-about to receive .£23,000 under the will of the Rev Robert Lang, of Dundee. During November, 1850 stray dogs were seized by the police within the Metropolitan and City police districts. The death has, occurred of Mr Wakefield H. Dixon, the well-known Belfast mer--cliant, harbour commissioner and magistrate. An invalid in a hospital at Tomsk is said to have reached his 140tli year. Weave told that he buried his wife a century ago The Archbishop of Canterbury visited the prison of Canterbury one Sunday lately and preached in. the afternoon to nearly 200 prisoners.
