At a meeting of the Wellington centre of the New Zealand League of Wheelmen, a letter was received from the council of the league, complaining of “the alarming want of energy shewn by the officials of the centre in not keeping the business of the district up to date,” and stating that if more energy was not displayed the centre system wouul be abolished, and the council uou.u take over the entire management of the colony. The following resolution was passed by the centre delegates: “That the Wellington Centre! regrets the tone of the letter received from the League’s secretary, being fully satisfied that the work of the local centre has been kept right up to date by the secretary (Mr J- Barr), ana that there is no just cause for complaint by the = League. Fees for all licenses issued have been forwarded to the league—-the last issued having been on 19th December, and they were forwarded on to headquarters the same night. Should the council require fees elarlier than that, if it will pay for telegraphing fees will be forwarded in that way. The Wellington centre is of opinion that an apology is due it fer the unjust remarks conveyed in the League’s letter. The delegates give time and trouble purely in the interest of the sport, and if tho council considers the centre is not carrying out the duties satisfactorily the committee is perfectly satisfied to hand over the management to the council or anyone else.
