A WHITEWASH FOR DAIRY BUILDINGS
In a German periodical appears a formula, for a wash which can be applied to lime walls, and afterward© become waterproof so as to bear washing. Bosenschek, of Munich, mixes together the powdpr . from three-parts siliceous rock (quartz), three-part© broken marble and sandstone, also two-parts of burned porcelain clafa. with two-parts 'freshly flaked lime, stall warm. In this way a wash is made which forms silicate if often wetted, and 'become after a time almost like etone. 1 The four -oonsffituehte mixed together give the ground colour to which • any pigment that ; be xried ,#ith limp is added. It is; applied quite r tidekly to the wall or other: surface, let; fdry one day, and; the next day. frequently covered with water, which makes it 'waterproof. The latter cabases the dime wash. . .to harden, without ©ranking. A. beautifulcream colour', can be imparted to the. mass by- {phtting inio it seven grans of. yellow ' oehrep b® ra pearly tint- by the addition of some lampblack. A- fawn colour is produced by two grammes .of umber; and seven grains of lampblack.:" A stone' colour can bo obtained fromlthuty grains of ■ umhe? and seyen grain© of lampblack* ■' Th‘e colour is applied, hs usual, with/a brnsh.
