RACES IN OTAGO

DUNEDIN, February 9. The weather for the Otago Cycling Club's ninth annual race meeting was not very favourable, rain falling during the afternoon. The attendance, however, was fairly good. Sutherland won the two distances in the championship , of Otago, one mile and three miles. The Otago Wheel Bace was pulled off by Edwards. Results: Half-mile Dash.—A. Hnlston, 60yds, 1; J. A. Barker, 15yds, 2; C. F. Letharby, 65yds, 3. Time, lmin lsec. Mile Amateur Handicap. C. G. White, 45yds, 1; C. F. W. Hill, 15yds, 2; K. Melville, 75yds, and G. A. Nelson,' 125yds, dead heat. Time, 2min 20 4-ssec. Two-mile Amateur.—A. F. Hill, 30yds, 1; C. G. White, 80yds, 2. Time, . omin 11 i-ssec. ' Otago Wheel Race, two miles.— M> Randrup, 90yds, 1; A. Pirie, 240yds, 2; IT. Gunthorpe, 220yd.s, 3. Corrfe and Bennett fell. Randrup, who rode a good race, won by a length and a half. One-mile Novice. —H. A. Nicholson, 95yds, 1; R. IT. Nagle, 35yds, and A. W. J. Clark, 50yds, dead heat. Time, 2min 25sec. One-mile (Second-class) Handicap.— A. Hnlston, scr, 1; A. Ralston, 20yds, 2; F. Williams, 50yds, 3. Time, 2min 40 4-ssec. Championship of Otago, two distances (one mile and three miles). —Sutherland and Barker were first and second respectively in each distance. Ralston and Holland divided third monejn Times—First distance, 2min 17 4-sseo; second distance, 7min 18sec. Sutherland made a wonderful sprint in each race, Barker responding gamely.
