The hotels of Wellington, which hav® been full to overflowing duriag the last two mouths, will have their accommodation severely taxed during the next day or two. Luckily the emergency found Mr Searl prepared, and he has set apart the new northern wing of his well-equipped hotel as a residence for a number of the officers of the Imperial “contingent. The children of the Terrace school, accompanied by parents and telachers, held their annual picnic at Day’s Bay on Friday. Favoured) with excellent weather, the youngsters had an extremely enjoyable outing. fta.ces were held during the day, the following being winners:—Standards VI. and VII., Moorhouso and Mary Fitz Gerald; Standards IV. and V., Donovan and Christina Warren; Standards 11. and 111., Sieveright and Stella Shaw ; Standards I. and 11., Siejvers, Nestle Cnappel and Cedric Haoknev. The swimming race (lOOyds) for gold and silver medals, resulted in a win for J. Strang (10yds) and MoLean (scr). The Prison Commissioners have decided to have their crockery prepared in future with leadless glaze only.
