The annual meeting of the Commercial Travellers’ Club was held on the Ist, the president (Mr George Wilson) presiding. The report and balance-sheet (which have already been published) were adopted. The president and vicepresidents were all re-elected, with the addition of Messrs E. C. Mills and S. S. Griffiths. Mr W. Clayton was elected treasurer, Mr O. It. Bendall secretary and Messrs W. It. Cook and J. ±x. Hall auditors. The election of a committee resulted in the return of Messrs J. C. Connor, J. R. Coull, A. G. Croll, D. B. Nolan, Joe Ramson, F. G. Roach, W. J. Salmon, T. Wilson, George Witt (travellers) and. A. Dixon, W. J. Hanlon, M. G. Heeles, J. J. Reich, .W. G. Reid and H. F. Upham (warehousemen). A lengthy discussion ensued on the question of erecting new buildings, and of enlarging and altering the present club premises. The consensus of opinion was favourable to deferring action in the ’matter for a period, and: eventually an advisory board, consisting of Messrs John Ross, John Duthie, George Wilson, D. J. Nathan and the trustees, was set up to go into the whole question in conjunction with the incoming committee, and to report to members in the event of a suitable site being obtained at any time. It Avas decided to close the premises of the club all day to-diay as a tribute of respect to the late Queen. Miss Estelle Beere, who has returned from a visit to Europe, will re-open classes for dancing, calisthenics, and deportment next month. Miss Beere is a certificated teacher of dancing, and during her year’s absence has been perfecting herself under such teachers of the art as Mr John D*Auban and Madame Katti Lanner.
