r The British grill-room is fast taking root in Paris. We have been shown a copy of “The Labour World/’ a monthly pa-per published at Tokio, Japan, and described a® “the sole organ of the labourers in Japan, advocating trade unionism and thoroughgoing social reform.” Seven out of the eight pages are printed in Japanese and illustrated, but the views expressed edi-: torially on the first page in indifferent English may probably be taken as typical of the remainder. The views are extreme more in their expression than isx their character, and appear to be generally tirades against the capitalist and the powers that be. One paragraph states that “three aldermen were sued by a lawyer for boodling the city treasury in Connection with contractors. These little boodlers were captured and thrown into the prison.” The paper further makes accusations -against Marquis Xto, the Prime Minister, of a character that would, if expressed in an English community, send an editor to a prolonged term of imprisonment. But they have ways of their own in the East.
