The experiment of burning papa in a kiln for use as road metal has px-oved a complete success on the Ohura road, iu Taranaki, and the Government lias engaged 1 ten brick-burners to prosecute the work on a large scale. The return for the whole of the districts administered during 1900 under the Official Assignee is available, and shows (inter alia), for Wellington and the ten districts under deputies, -the following results, the figures for the previous year being placed in parentheses for comparison : —Debts proved, £41,536 12s lOd (£81,041 17s 7d); assets realised, £12,117 4s 8d (<£10,980 9s 8d); dividends paid, £6167 9s lOd (£7290 13s sd); pre* xerential claims £2OOI 17s 6d (£1366 lls 3d).
