YACHTING.
PROPOSED INTER-STATE RACES.
SYDNEY/ January 29. A conference of. yacht owners lias recommended a series of annua; races be-, tween States, the yachts to he built on the British Yacht Association’s measiirement rule; that the class recommended be the 30 feet linear class; all competing yachts must be steered by amateur members of Australian or New Zealand yacht clubs, and not more than one professional or paid hand to be carried. A fund is to be opened to provide a perpetual challenge cup. Each State holding the race shall provide a purse of one hundred guineas and a trophy of not less than five guineas, the latter to go to the steersman of the winning yacht.
