Mr E. Owen Oox, managing director in Australia of Messrs Burt and Co. (Limited) representatives of the Federal line of steamboats, who came by the troopship Cornwall to Wellington from Sydney, will proceed to Auckland by express’train this morning. Mr Cox came to -lnow Zealand to superintend th® rapid despatch of the Cornwall, and succeeded admirably in his mission. Arriving on Wednesday mortiing, and being delayed by the cessation of work on the arrival of news of the death of the Queen, as well as by the prevailing bad weather, the vessel put out 400 tons of cargo, and took in 1500 tone of coal, 400 or 500 tons of stores, and the horses and equipment of • the contingent. Mr Cox is very grateful for the hearty 00-operation of the Harbour Board, and th© efficient service of th© employees of Messrs Gannaway and Co., stevedores, which enabled the .carrying out of this herculean task. The owners of the Cornwall have been carrying troops for twelve months, and on no single occasion have they been one minute beyond their announced, starting time. When the vessel arrived in harbour on Wednesday, Mr Cox said, “We shall leave at 6 o'clock on Saturday !” and, notwithstanding all the diffi_ culties to be contended with, th© vessel cast her moorings at 6 o’clock precisely, and steamed out into the .hay.
“KEATING'S POWDER" destroys BUGS, FLEAS, MOTHS, BEETLES, and all other insects, whilst quite harmless to domestic animals. In exterminating Beetles the success of this powder is extraordinary. It is perfectly clean in application. See the article you purchase is “KEATING'S," i.e., with the signature THOMAS KEATING on each tin, as imitations are noxioxis and ineffectual. Sold in Tins, 6d and Is each, by all chemists.
