THE NICARAGUA CANAL.
LONDON, January 12. The -‘Daily Telegraph’ 5 states that Great Britain has declined to x’atify’ the Ha y-Paxuicefote Treaty until the claim of an English shipping company, which holds tlie monopoly of traffic on the Bangui River till 1927 is satisfied. The company is willing to soli its rights for fifty million dollars. Senator J. T. .Morgan, Chairman of the Select Committee on the construction of the Nicaragua Canal, admits the validity of the claim, which blocks •further legislation with respect to the canal.
