'The Maiden Plate, one mile, is the next event on the card, entries for which close on Tuesday next. Final payments for the Wellington Cup are due at the same time. Revised weights for the Wellington Cup were due yesterday, but are not to hand at time of writing. Of the half-dozen I selected when the weights appeared Tortulla, Cour de Lion and Skoheloff remain in. One of these three may supply the winner but it is a very open race. Of the 13 left in the Porirua. stable. Hon. J. D. Ormond and Mr G. G. Stead each have two representatives. I shall make a final selection after the acceptances are received. Final payments for the Wellesley Stakes, four furlongs, are also due on Tuesday next. Tire weights are colts, Bst 71bs; geldings, Bst 4lbs; fillies, Bst 21bs. Mr Stead’s representative, probably Menschikoff may be good enough to win. The President’s Handicap, one mile and a furlong.—Fit and well Vv ill of the Wisp (7st 101 b) would have a chance second to none. He has previously raced well at the Hutt in hard and soft going, but has been laid up for some time on account of picking up a nail. Tortulla, Palaver,Materoa and Field Rose, who have accepted for the Cup, are also in this event. Strathnairn (9st 101 b) may in this event. Strathnairn (9st) may prove to be the best of the top weights and Queens’s Guard, if started, may run well with her light impost. Owners are sure to respond liberally to Mr Henrys’ hack handicap. The top weight. Ngatihuia (9st 71b) is unlucky in showing form good enough to get the weight kept cn him. Waterford (Bst 91b), Artisan (7st 101 b) and Katriona (7st 21b), all appear well in. Several of those engaged in the Nursery Handicap, five furlongs, are likely to take , part in the Wellesley Stakes. There will, however, be enough juveniles

"in to make an interesting race. Rerer, Kowhete, Comrort and Destroyer can be expected to. run well. The Telegraph Handicap, six furlongs, should bring together the best of the sprinters. Advance, Boreas and Ostiak are engaged, and one of them will re_ present, the Porirua stable. The lastnamed is nicely handicapped at Bst 21bs.
