THE BOER PROTEST. CAPETOWN, February 6 Indignation has been aroused by the insoleut tone of the letter from Presidents Kruger and Steyn with -regard to the destruction of farmhouses by British soldiers, one part of which describes the troops as “white brigands ” and charges them with indulging ?n general devastation, contrary to the usages of war. Lord Roberts, in a dignified reply characterises as barbarous the expulsion from the Republics and ruin of those Britishers who refused to bo commandeered f ir service at the front.
