The . hotel list had been revised and new cards issued, and * the committee was pleased to .repfirt ; that there was a growing disposition on the part of hotel proprietors to dct*;en ; i suggestions-made by the association for-: the comfort of members, and that the recommendation of the association was now looked upon as of some importance.. The thanks of the association were dne to the railways and steamship companies’ officials who had so readily met • the views of the committee in the two or three small matters brought under their notice during the year. A nffts cancy on the committee was caused by the departure of Mr M. Russell for - A Wanganui. Mr H. F. Upham was appointed in his place. Mr A. E. Dean having left for Auckland, Mr A. Bnrnes was elected to the vacancy on the house ’ committee to represent club members. A special scheme of accident insurance was submitted by some of the companies for the consideration of the committee, but no steps were taken pending discussion of the subject by the members' in general meeting. Messrs C. Laishley and L. E. B. Wilson kindly acted as a selection, committee for the library,and 115 new volumes were added. Of, the old volumes, 100 were withdrawn / and presented to the Boys’ Institute • ' and the Old Men’s Home. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet/” congratulated members op. the highly satisfactory nature of tlie statements presented.
