BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.

The returns showing the transactions m-bankruptcy in Wellington for the past y_ear, compiled by Mr Gerard, the Official Assignee’s accountant, show that there, were 4Q petitions by debtors, four adjudications on. petitions by creditors, and three cases in which compositions were accepted. _ The number of orders of immediate discharge granted by th© Court was thirty. In 18 cases discharges were suspended. The assets, as per statements- filed (excluding amounts secured to creditors), were £7094 last yean. Th© amount for the ’.preceding twelve months was £13,207. Secured creditors in 1899 were represented by £17,3-73. ■ TMs was £663 more than in 1898. The liabilities, as per statements filed, were £22,536 last year, a-s against £31,621 for the preceding year. The amount of assets realised wa_3 £4105 10s 9d in the year just ended, bemg_£2l62 less than the amount realised in 1898.
