FINE FOR ASSAULT.

INVERCABGILL, Tuesday. At Riverton to-day George Webb was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment for pushing Mildred Callaghan from her bicycle on the road near Fairfax. : It was stated in evidence tuat he knelt beside her, caught her hands and made ah attempt to interfere with her dress. She pulled his whiskers, and he let go. .."When summoned, Webb told the constable that he pushed the woman off because she came close to him, and was riding without a light.
