From experiments recently made by Mr Gilruth, the Government chief veterinary surgeon, it has been found that a finesand filter gives slightly better results than a filter in which a layer of polarite, a sort of iron sand, from a sample sent out from Home to Mr J. M. McEwan, late chief dairy expert, was used. The result is of value where it is desired to obtain the purest water for dairying purposes. l
