To Rob a Bank.
A BOLD ATTEMPT TO "FISH"" NOTES FROM A CASHIER. \ With a brisk, businesslike air there entered the Bank of Scotland, in Bishopsgate street, on Saturday afternoon, July 29th, a respectably-dressed, ■■■■ inoffensivelooking man. Some important calculations .of profit and loss apparently absorbed him, for he remained for a minute or two .deep in the mysteries of figures on a piece of paper. Unaware that the of a canny Scottish cashier was upon him, he began to put his careful calculations .into practice. ...'■*. . Furtively advancing an umbrella rib,. to the end of which a pin was attached, he endeavoured to.hook towards" him an attractive bundle of bank-notes from the desk of a cashier whose back was turned. But the observant cashier . from his neighbouring desk was upon him in a moment with a shout of "Stop thief!'' Near the fisher of bank-notes stood a gentleman, who instantly seized upon the stranger's collar. Wisely recognising that his fishing was a failure,, he made no resistance, but in the name of "Timms, of Balham," permitted' himself to be marched off to the. police-station.
