At the annual meeting of members of the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association on Saturday, the following officers were elected:—President, Mr D. J. Cameron; vice-president, Mr D. Guild; treasurer, Mr E. E. Chamberlain; committee, Messrs W. H. Beetham, J. v Strang, F. Moore, F. Hill, J. McGregor, J. Hessey, R. Johnston, A. W. Cave, F. C. Lewis, J. Harvey, B. Rayner, Wm. McKenzie, R. Gray, Wm. Perry, James Stuckey, C. E. Daniell, W. D. Watson, J. Ewart, J. D. Cruickshank, W. J. Welch, T. E. Chamberlain, George Watson, John Mcßae and H. G. Williams. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring president, Mr W. H. Beetham, for his past services. On. the Eltham road, or within about ten. chains, between Eltham and Opunafce, a; distance of .twenty-six miles, there are no less than seven butter factories and creameries, one cheese factory and one bacon factory. This (says the Hawera "Star”) is the record for factories within the same radius in Taranaki.
