Tragic Find to a Feud.
MILLIONAIRE BANKER KILLED BY A SUPPOSED MADMAN. NEW YORK, May I. A sensational murder was committed here yesterday, the victim being Alexander Masterson, a millionaire banker. 1c C— 2 was deliberately slioL in the Burhngrcn House by James Neal Plume, a weußliy man who had nursed a grin!.-, e against him for forty years Masterson was one of the trustees under the will of Mrs Plumb, who died in 1877, leaving £120,000 to her son and two daughters. Plumb alleged that Masterson had squandered the money, and had also induced Plumb’s son and one of his daughters to make undesirable marriages. After shooting Masterson five times Plumb gave himself up to a policeman. He had prepared a type-written statement of his grievances against his victim. The inquest- on the body of Masterson will be held on Wednesday, and an indictment against Plumb for murder will undoubtedly follow. A plea of insanity will probably be putforward. The general opinion is that Plumb is mentally deranged through constant brooding over his real or fancied wrongs.
