Daniel Seaman, a Balaklava veteran, died in the Kew (Melbourne) Lunatic Asylum, aged ninety-five. He had been an inmate of the asylum for twenty-six years, and spent the previous thirteen years in the Yarra Bend Asylum, thus making thirty-nine years in confinement. His mental disorder was attributed to wounds received on the battlefield.
