EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.

A meeting of the Wellington Educational Institute was held on Saturday.. Mr C. Watson (president) was in the chair, and twenty members were present. A sub-committee was appointed to consider the proposals embodied in Mr Riley’s report on technical education. Mr Bethune gave notice of motion, “That delegates to the New Zealand Educational Institute be elected annually.” Notice was give., by Mr Erskine that he would move at the next meeting, “ That, with respect to Court of Appeal cases, this institute has decided not to take any case to the Appeal Court unless the applicant has been a member for at least twelve months at date of application.” On the motion of 91 r Grundy, seconded by Mr . it was resolved that members of the executive of the Educational Institute should also be members of the council. An interesting paper on Silas Manner was read by Mr W. Gill, who was accorded ai hearty vote of thanks. A committee was appointed to consider the case of a teachei who has received notice from the Beard of Education of her transfer to a lower grade school. Three new members were elected. Tho following nominations of officers for the ensuing term were received: —President, Messrs W. Gill (Newtown) and F. Bethune (Johnsonville); vice-pre-sident, Mr IT. Parkinson (Greytown) and Miss Lorimer (Mount Cook Girls); secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Erskine (Terrace), re-elected ; delegate to Council of New Zealand Educational Institute, Mr W. Gill and Miss A. Dowdesweli (Patautanui).
