During the dredging operations in the bay at Sebastopol, an old English shell, dating doubtless from the Crimean war, was hauled up, and exploded on being brought into the boat. One man was killed and several others were injured. A man well up in dog lore counsels intending purchasers'of a puppy to let the mother of the puppy choose for them. The first the mother picks up in carrying them back to their bed will always be the best. It is by natural breathing alone that the lungs can he made perfectly healthy, and not by so-called abdominal breathing, which flattens the chest; and by which the lungs do not get full play.
