A discussion in tlie Reichstag at the end of April on the Jewish method of slaughtering animals turned upon a resolution submitted by the German antiSemites laying it down that when cattle were bled to death they should first be stunned. In England it is admitted by many prominent Jews that the present methods, chiefly in “casting” the animals intended for slaughter, are unsatisfactory. The Shechita Board has during the past few years spent considerable sums of money in testing various inventions designed to meet its special requirements, but so far it is believed that none of the contrivances offered for its approval have fulfilled the conditions laid down.
